You will feel right at home as soon as you enter The Red Door. Its stylish charm and character will instantly warm your heart and your stomach will be filled with all of the deliciousness.
Every visit to this cozy Mission Hills jewel has been spectacular. The menu features updated American comfort classic dishes using local ingredients as well as produce from their own organic garden. A cute little black board at the bar lists what is fresh from the garden daily. Now that’s dedication!
A few of the dishes that really stood out to me were the Shrimp and Chorizo with a crispy three-cheese polenta and the Lamb Meatballs with homemade herbed gnocchi. I know your mouth is watering, but I’m not done yet. The bananas in the Mini Banana Cream Pie taste amazingly fresh, as if prepared minutes before. I didn’t even know I liked Banana Cream Pie before I tasted it. Yum!
I was so pleased with the restaurant, the lovely manager Ashley Phillips and friendly chef Miguel Valdez, that I planned my sister’s birthday celebration there for a Sunday Brunch. They offer brunch every Sunday and I was happy to learn that I could make a reservation on a weekend morning for 25 people!
Our brunch experience was outstanding, creative and memorable. We enjoyed warm scones and fresh sticky buns to start, and then passed our dishes around the table to share and taste the variety of entrees like the Beef Short Rib Hash and Skillet Egg Soufflé. In addition to the cozy atmosphere and wonderful food, they also had a live jazz band. The day was perfection.
If I haven’t raved about this place enough, I have one more important note to add, which is one of the top reasons to visit…it’s upscale casual dining that won’t break the bank! I hope you can experience The Red Door Restaurant soon.
