Due Venti is lovely and picturesque. The closest experience to European dining in the convenient up and coming town of Clawson, Michigan. A Husband and Wife chef team prepares the Northern Italian inspired cuisine with hints of the surrounding regions of Austria, France and Switzerland.
You will appreciate the cozy feel from the minute you glance at the charming patio, are greeted by the friendly staff, glance at the seasonal well thought out menu and bite into the mouthwatering dishes that have been prepared with locally grown quality ingredients. If that’s not enough to convince you, every item is prepared in house, from the stocks, sauces, handmade breads, fresh pastas, preserves, sorbets and ice creams.
The evening began with delectable starter dishes. A comforting Cauliflower Fritter, a recipe inherited by the chefs’ grandmother and inspiration behind the restaurant; a Savory Cheesecake of fresh Basil and Garlic that speaks for itself; and a Spicy Sausage, Cheese and Herb stuffed fresh Fig dish that surprised our palates! My main course, a Pistachio Crusted pan seared Sea Bass melted in my mouth, although I was disappointed that I didn’t have enough room in my stomach to finish my plate.
After a short break and a sip of tea, the grand finale of the night and reason why I will never forget my experience at Due Venti was the Caramel-Fennel-Sea Salt-Gelato. It was shared amongst 4, words of “Oh my Gosh” and “Wow” were exchanged. There was silence at times. It was the best gelato that I’ve ever had. I will travel from afar to have this experience again.
